Shopping for a reasonably priced gaming PC isn’t an easy task these days, which is why pre-built desktops like the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A39 are becoming popular over mainstream machines from Lenovo, HP, and Dell. This Intel + Nvidia build can max out just any 1440p game, you can get some 4K with the right settings, and it’s not very expensive. Everything but the monitor comes bundled in the box, and the desktop is already configured to maximize its performance – no need to tinker with the BIOS to get the best frame rates.

With an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor, Nvidia RTX 5070 graphics card, and 32GB DDR5 RAM, you get the best of both worlds – performance and price, in the CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme gaming PC.

Design & Features

Most pre-built gaming desktops have a thing with LED lights all over the chassis: in fact, we’re yet to review one that doesn’t feature lots of colorful lights all over the place. CyberPowerPC, just like iBuyPower and Skytech, tends to be overzealous with LEDs, and the latest Gamer Xtreme VR is no exception. This mid-range gaming PC comes with a full array of lights spread all over the chassis, from the front panel, sides, and around the cooling fans.

For this year’s Gamer Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A39 model, CyberPower uses the all-popular Prism 321V case that we’ve seen in the CyberPowerPC Gamer GXiVR8080A38 that we reviewed last year. Even with slight modifications in the color scheme from black and silver, the Prism 321V case is a Lian Li-manufactured case that’s best known for its near-seamless integration of a 3-D effect with a wraparound glass panel that covers the entire front and side panels, showcasing a PC’s innards in full glory.

We have interacted with this case before, and we love its implementation of the wraparound effects that provide a beautiful view of a PC’s internals, especially when combined with RGB components. Beyond the aesthetics, this case is easy to work with and provides ample space for good airflow to keep temperatures stable. The Skytech King 95, on the other hand, uses an almost identical Montech King 95 Pro case, only that the latter offers more space for bigger fans and up to 175mm of air cooler height, meaning you get a perfectly cooled PC out of the box.

So, regardless of whether you like the RGB galore in both cases, the entire package is drop-gorgeous. In the case of the Gamer Xtreme VR, the mod-tier chassis is all black with sharp edges, and the interior is spacious and neatly arranged. You can see the 120mm cooling fans breathing in action in tandem with the RGB LEDs.

The front of the chassis has a CyberPowerPC logo in a raised glass casing; most of the glass is the same shadowy glass as the side panel, and part of the top panel is a dust filter with easy front access ports. For connectivity, there are both front and back I/O ports, in addition to an HDMI and a pair of DisplayPort inputs on the RTX 5070 graphics card.

Gaming & graphics Performance

The CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A39 arrives with a solid spec sheet, especially for a sub-$2000 price point: Intel Core i9-14900KF processor (24 cores), an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 (12GB), and 32GB of RAM (two 16GB sticks of DDR5 running in dual-channel mode. Of interest here is the RTX 5070 GPU, since the Core i9 processor has been around for a while now, but the GPUs are appearing in more and more gaming PCs, especially those released earlier in the year.

Over its predecessor, the RTX 5070 brings some modest improvements, but it’s not a major refresh that we all expected it to be. Of course, it does offer better performance in some areas, especially ray tracing and content creation, but it’s still limited to the 12GB of VRAM, making it a less attractive upgrade, especially for anyone already running an RTX 4070 or RTX 4070 Super configuration.

Playing Cyberpunk 2077 at 3840 x 2160 at the Ray Tracing preset with DLSS frame generation, the Gamer Xtreme averages 77-86 fps indoors and low-90 fps outdoors. The game is highly playable, and it’s free of any noticeable lagging or performance spikes.

Cyberpunk 2077 presents the biggest challenge to gaming PCs due to its extensive use of high-res textures, long draw distances, and extreme ray tracing effects in the Ultra RT mode. Still, the Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A39 can exceed 60 fps at 1080p for both its average and minimum frame rates, even without utilizing DLSS. Bumping to 1440p at the same settings, the system remains steady, which is not possible with most midrange gaming PC on the market.

The Xtreme VR GXiVR8080A39 can take advantage of its CPU overclocking and upscaling technology to improve frame rates, and it supports DLSS 4.0, too. With the latter enabled, the GXiVR8080A39 can exceed an average of 100fps at 1080p Ultra and 72fps at 1440p, which are both fantastic results.

With excellent performance in Cyberpunk 2077, there’s no doubt that the CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR holds up well in other games as well. Whether you’re gaming at 1080p or 1440p, the system performs well in Total War: Warhammer 3, maintaining 60fps and above at 1440p.

Finally, with an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD, this is a balanced system for almost any kind of usage, including content creation, 3D modeling, and pretty everything else, though the storage drive may fill up quickly with too many games or raw videos. We’ve seen up to 4TB storage on top-tier gaming PCs, but you have some wiggle room to expand your storage and RAM if needed.

CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A39 Review: Bottom Line

The prebuilt gaming desktop market is tough to compete in, but the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A39 earns a spot as one of the better values. While a modest upgrade over its predecessor from last year, it still delivers a Core i9-1400KF and a GeForce RTX 5070 for several hundred dollars less than similar machines from HP and Lenovo. It has lots of performance for modest 4K gaming and is overkill for 1080p.

The desktop’s only downside is maybe the sparse number of USB-C ports, but everything else remains excellent, especially when you’re not looking at the RTX 5070 as a major upgrade over both the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 GPUs. For better 4K gaming performance, the Corsair Vengeance i7500 is miles ahead with an RTX 5080 GPU, though it doesn’t have as good of to performance comparison. Overall, the CyberPowerPC GXiVR8080A39 provides terrific value and earns our recommendation for a kid-range gaming desktop PC.
