Upright vacuum cleaners, such as the Shark NV752 and the Shark NV352, are the most popular vacuums for serious cleaning work. While cordless vacuums have their place in our homes for their convenience, this vacuum cleaner now brings the convenience with a powered lift-away rotator, and powerful cleaning performance thanks to its large dust cup and extra tools like a power brush and crevice tool.

It comes with a large floor head that covers lots of floor space with every single pass, and the fact that you can separate the collection bin and the cleaning apparatus from the floor head for cleaning stairs and other hard-to-access areas in your home makes it versatile than most vacuum cleaners out there. Unlike Shark’s newer models, such as the Shark APEX Upright, the NV752 comes with a single-roller head but includes three cleaning tools (Turbo brush, upholstery tool, and crevice tool) for different surfaces.

The Shark NV752 is nicely designed and has features that make the core business of cleaning less tedious. While it’s not perfect – plus, it doesn’t clean as well as most top-tier vacs from Shark and Dyson – it performs well on carpets and hard floors, but it somehow struggles with fine particles. Given the price and considering the versatile cleaning potential, it’s well worth your consideration as a high-powered upright vacuum at a midrange price.

What we like

Strong cleaning performance, with powerful suction

The Shark NV752 vacuum does a fine job sucking both debris and artificial dog hair from hard surfaces. It’s fairly effective in picking fine and medium-sized debris like sand or rice from hard floors and carpets. It does a decent job of cleaning high-pile carpets with ease. It clears away most larger debris within a single pass, but a small amount may be left in corners or along walls where the cleaner head doesn’t reach. In that case, you can use the crevice tool that goes into all the hard-to-reach areas.

Surprisingly, this vacuum has some of the strongest suction of any machine we’ve tested at this price point. Thanks to strong suction, it’s able to perfectly pick up both natural and artificial hair from surfaces and carpets. When set in carpet mode, the vacuum head switches to a stronger, deep cleaning spinning motion so the bristles can access even the most dug-in pet hairs. The brush roll doesn’t get tangled, and both artificial and natural hairs are sucked up easily.

Its extra-wide upholstery tool helps get dog hairs out of your couches, and it can suck stubborn hairs out of decorative stitching that’s typically not easy to spot, and that’s where pet hair tends to accumulate.

Shark NV752 Review Main

Very easy to use, with lots of maneuverability

Among the best features of the Shark NV752 Navigator Lift-Away vacuum is its streamlined design that makes cleaning efficient and enjoyable. As the name says, with just one click, the vacuum lifts away from the brush head, taking the cord and arm with it to offer a more portable and lightweight vacuum pod, which you can attach to the crevice tool or upholstery tool, depending on the surface you want to clean.

With the conveniently placed handle, this pod is very portable and can be carried around to different areas of your house. It is just a smaller and lighter version of the bigger vacuum, which makes it ideal for use in smaller spaces like your stairs or pantry room.

While in this form, you can use the extendable arm and the accessories – including a wide upholstery tool and a crevice tool – with the same powerful suction as the vacuum offers in its upright form. The accessories easily click on the arm of the vacuum, making for easy storage and seamless maneuvering. The lift-away feature is especially useful when vacuuming pet hair from tough, hard-to-reach spaces around the home.

What we don’t like

Some parts feel a little flimsy

The Shark NV752 feels well-built overall, but to reach that inexpensive price point, a few cost savings had to be made. In that regard, parts like the handle aren’t very sturdy – it has some play where it’s supposed to connect to the cleaner, and you can feel it during use. Also, the dirt holder clamps require some effort to get unlatched and constantly feel like they might snap off.

The upholstery tool is also a little flimsy. It’s designed to detach for easy cleaning, but instead, it falls apart pretty easily. Even when you’re able to get it working properly, it prefers to wrap pet hair around the brush rather than send it into the dirt chamber.

Shark NV752 Review: Bottom Line

For homes with pets and multiple types of flooring with high-pile carpets, the Shark NV752 Rotator Powered Lift-Away is an unbeatable choice for deep cleaning. It expertly handles all types of debris across hard surfaces – without getting bogged down by pet hair – and its powered lift-way design makes it much more versatile than your average upright vacuum.

If you’re in the market for a decent vacuum with above-average maneuverability at a below-average price, the Shark NV752 vacuum cleaner is an easy choice to recommend. Should you need something with more design features, like a body that’s easy to disassemble and swivel steering, the Dyson V15 Detect Plus is a great alternative.
