How big is “too big” for a gaming monitor? Last year, we reviewed the Samsung Odyssey G9, a 49-inch superfluous gaming monitor, and liked it for the immersive curved OLED experience, stellar image quality, and attractive display. Now, we have the Samsung LS57CG952NNXZA (G95NC), one of the largest monitors I’ve ever seen. At 57 inches, this ultrawide curved monitor makes the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 look like a shadow of its own self – in a good way, though.
The extensive size isn’t the only good thing with this monitor – the 1,000R curved display is every gamer’s dream, packing a sharp 7,680 x 2,160 resolution, a fluent 240Hz refresh rate, and a blazing 1ms response for the best gaming/productivity experience. Those specs, combined with an immersive screen size, make this the ultimate monitor for playing the best PC games. The ultrawide size is also great for professional creatives who need to keep multiple windows open for multitasking.
As expected, the Samsung G95NC will take up some huge space on your desktop; it will need some very high-end, and very specific, PC horsepower, and at around two grand, it is a serious cash investment. But playing games on this thing feels truly luxurious, which makes the enormous price tag feel at least a bit justified.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC is an absolute beast of a gaming monitor and packs some really cool tech we’ve never seen before in a PC display.
Design & Features
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is big. That’s pretty obvious from the description that it’s a 57-inch ultrawide monitor, but it doesn’t hit until you unpack it and set it up on your desk. And the good thing with this incredible, preposterous new Dual UHD is that it’s not disguised as a TV. It’s a fully PC-optimized monitor. And then looking at this 57-inch monitor, you’re left wondering if you can have too much of a good thing.
Like its 49-inch siblings, the Samsung G95NC, in effect, is a pair of 32-inch 240Hz 4K gaming screens fused into a single 57-inch super-curved panel. So, that’s no fewer than 7,680 by 2,160 pixels, or slightly over 16.5 million in total, and twice that of 4K. Impressive.
A single 240Hz 4K monitor would be pretty impressive. But Samsung goes all out and doubles that resolution running at such a high refresh rate; that’s genuinely never seen before. Indeed, it’s so loaded that only AMD’s latest RDNA 3-powered Radeon RX 7000 Series GOU can utilize the full 240Hz thanks to their Display 2.1 interfaces. Nvidia’s RTX 50-Series GPUs are limited to DP 1.4 can only hit 120Hz.
Of course, you could argue that’s usually going to be a standout. You’ll be lucky hitting 240Hz at dual 4K in Cyberpunk with ray-tracing maxed out, or any other graphically intensive game, even on an RTX 5090. Again. It’s also a little problematic that most top-tier monitors can’t run at full performance with the current world’s fastest GPUs. However, if you can afford this monitor’s sticker price, you can almost certainly afford to go all in on a gaming PC with a high-end RTX 5090 GPU.
The panel itself is VA, which is what we’ve come to expect from Samsung, even though the 2,500:1 static contrast rating is a bit lower than I expected, given that VA panel tech can now achieve 3,000:1 or even 4,000:1.
Anyway, out of the box, this thing is extremely large. We’re used to Samsung’s 49-inch G9 monitor, such as the Samsung G93SC, but somehow this 57-inch monster is still domineering. It’s the combination of the huge panel size, the ridiculous 32:9 aspect ratio, and the extreme 1000R curvature. Looking at it, you instantly get the feeling that you’re indeed getting value for your money. Its styling and ergonomics are typical of the Samsung Odyssey line, complete with the signature glossy white plastic and RGBs at the back where the arm joins the panel.
Connectivity is excellent, featuring a DisplayPort socket, which exclusively offers the full 240Hz. Additionally, there’s a trio of HDMI inputs and USB-C, but the latter is only for the USB hub; it’s not a display interface.
Gaming & Productivity Performance
It’s hard to just state how much this monitor will blow you away the first time you see and use it. Samsung was somehow able to increase the panel size and still maintain the peak brightness of 1,000 nits in its Odyssey Neo G9. That gives it an HDR 1000 rating, which is one of the best HDRs you’ll find outside of just playing your games on a high-end OLED TV.
That alone is impressive, but Samsung also includes its new Quantum Mini LED tech, which is the tech behind its latest QLED TVs. So, the Samsung LS57CG952NNXZA has 2392 local dimming zones, which is a massive improvement over the 2,048 dimming zones in the 49-inch model.
In games like Destiny 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, which are our go-to game tests for HDR, the Odyssey Neo G9 I incredible. HDR is fairly a luxury addition, but you’ll never want to drop it once you get it, and the move from HDR 400 displays we mostly test, gaming monitors really need to up their credentials – and HDR 1000 displays like this really are on another level of brightness and color.
Keep in mind, the Samsung G95NC isn’t just big, and it’s not just a high-resolution panel; it’s also brighter and more colorful than any other gaming monitor you’ve probably ever seen. Combine that with a high refresh rate, and you have a piece of gaming brilliance that you’ll definitely want to have in your gaming arsenal. But with that high refresh rate and the high resolution, you run into one major problem: performance.
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 has a 7,680 x 2,160 display, which is dual 4K that you just don’t find anywhere else. Even with a gaming PC equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, there are still not many games where you can lock a perfect 120 fps on this display, much less 240 fps. For instance, in Deathloop, we usually hover around 115fps, and it dips to 100 or 90 fps. That’s still a terrific frame rate, but practically, that’s far off from being able to fully saturate this display.
Still, with a monitor that costs north of two grand, you might be tempted to give it some room to grow in the future, and it will be a long time before this monitor’s capability is fully utilized or considered standard.
As a productivity monitor, the Neo G9 offers an ideal 1,000R curvature, which is enough to bring content at the sides of the screen comfortably into view but not enough to distort any geometric gridlines. Spreadsheets look a whole lot better when too much width is available; it’s easy to line up to three or four documents and work them together. Comparing different versions of the same file is much easier.
Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC Review: Bottom line
Like most ultrawide monitors, the 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC isn’t for everyone. This monitor is for pro-gamers with space; those who value immersion and high image fidelity over everything else, and who don’t mind spending ~$2,000 on a monitor that meets their gaming prowess.
It’s a perfect Dual 4K monitor for fast-paced games, simulation game fans, strategy fans, and those who wish to push their high-end graphics cards to the extreme. On the flipside, DisplayPort 2.1 GPU compatibility brings along some limits in trying to realize this monitor’s potential, as you might be limited to just two AMD cards right now. Still, your games can run up to 120 fps on most graphics cards, which is still fine before Nvidia or even Intel adopts the updated technology. Still, it’s a concern if you dropped some major bucks on a high-end Nvidia card like RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 not long ago.
Overall, Samsung once again outdid itself by delivering a superb big-screen gaming monitor. It easily earns our Editors’ Choice award for ultrawide gaming monitors, even though it’s far ahead of the bleeding edge of most current graphics cards. For all its worth, I still prefer Samsung’s big-screen Odyssey OLED G9 for its OLED panel, but the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is a masterclass gaming monitor and the perfect addition to your gaming setup – provided you have the space and enough money for it. If you don’t, the LG 49 Curved UltraGear is also a great alternative for half the money.
